O Line

The O line operated on North and South Main Street. In the first photo an O car has jus left its loop at the north end. The ornate structure was the former entry to the Selig Zoo. In the '30s the Zoo was nearing bankruptcy and there was an unsuccessful attempt to get the city to take it over. When this photo was taken in 1946, the zoo had been replaced by an amusement park.

Leaving Selig Loop

Next we have a 1920s view of a streetcar northbound on North Main Street passing the Plaza and the old Plaza church. This streetcar could be running on either the O or B line. The B line would turn right at Macy St. (now Cesar Chavez Ave). The O line continued north on North Main St. and Mission Rd.
